Coffee comes first in our lives, it’s our daily ritual that prepares us for the day ahead and its influence is no less important on holiday! So it makes sense that the first Blog post that we write will be about helping our guests find the best coffee from Dunsborough to Yallingup!
We know what it is like to go somewhere new and have to stalk around town trying to hunt down the best cuppa, with the risk of picking a dud and getting a coffee that doesn’t start your day off with a wow.
We’ve taken the hard work out of the hunt and used our local knowledge to gather the best coffee in Dunsborough town, in Yallingup, and in the bush so however and wherever you like to enjoy your coffee you will find a place to suit in our list below.
Merchant & Maker General Store Shop 8 35 Dunn Bay Rd Dunsborough
Great coffee and a hit with locals and visitors alike set in the modern general store that is Merchant & Maker. They are early risers here opening from 6:30am – and finishing coffee at 2pm (the store stays open until 5:30pm). Maker Espresso uses Margaret River Roasting Company Coffee, a relatively new but lauded addition to the growing number of great coffee roasters in Western Australia. If you’re super organised you can even grab a something for dinner from the delicious range of local produce the store has up for grabs.
Albert & Nikola
14/34 Dunn Bay Rd, Dunsborough
This place has a funky vibe with friendly staff are passionate about coffee and community and share advice about the town freely. The namesakes of the café are Albert Einstein & Nikola Tesla which is perhaps a nod to the scientific approach to coffee extraction. They are open from 6:30am – 1:30pm Mon – Fri 7:00am – 1:30pm Saturday & Sunday. They have the team at The Cape Effect Coffee Roasters to thank for their thoughtful blends and single origins, handpicked for milky or black drinks. If you’re hungry these guys do an amazing smoothie bowl for breakfast!
42 Dunn Bay Rd Dunsborough
This place is a Dunsborough institution, with locals coming in and out all morning the staff are always happy and are happy to create your perfect coffee so don’t be ashamed of your ¾ topped up double strength soy decaf mocha! And from the name you might have guessed that these guys make an amazing hot chocolate, my boss says it nearly bought him to his knees! They are open from Mon – Wed 6am – 2pm Thursday-Saturday 6am – 4pm and Sunday 7am – 2pm. Hot Chocolatte serve a house blend from the Perth Roasters Bonissimo. You can grab yourself a tasty takeaway breakfast or lunch and we dare you to try and resist buying any lollies while you’re here especially the in-store made rocky road!
Yallingup General Store AKA Andy’s
16 Yallingup Beach Road (before you head down the hill to the beach)
This genuine Australian store is a favourite for locals, heading for their daily swim/surf at Yalls (Yallingup beach). The store has a really fun, quirky, retro feel to it and the staff are all happy and chatty. They are open from 5:30 am – 7:00 pm every day! They have a simple but yummy menu as well as some fancy salads and healthy raw treats so you’ll please the kids and the adults if you decide to grab something to eat.
278 Hayes Rd, Quindalup WA 6281
We love this rustic bush café because of its consistently delicious coffee, food, smiley staff and the ample outside seating where you can enjoy a tree escape before heading to the beach. The coffee comes from the very local (as in just next door) Cape Effect Coffee Roasters and their house blend is perfect with milk or without. This is a great spot to take your time with a cuppa, maybe even start your day here with breakfast too! They are open from 9:00 am–4pm Monday–Friday and 8:30am–4pm Saturday & Sunday. If you want to come here to dine on the weekend it’s a good idea to come early or ring ahead and book.
