What to do in Autumn in Margaret River Region?
One of the best events this autumn is Australia’s largest “Open Studio” event Margaret River Region Open Studios, on this year for 2 whole weeks from April 28th – 13th May. As the weather down here is starting to cool and our focus shifts (a little) from the beaches into the bush it's a perfect time of year for a meandering week or weekend of art appreciation, Check out the great promotional video at the bottom of this post.
So what is the event all about then?
Artists from Augusta to Busselton open their studio doors to the public for inspiring and often intimate visits. This truly unique event is in its 5th year and has over 130 artists registered, including Painters, Sculptors, and Ceramicists.
This year is an extra special one with Douglas Kirsop opening his doors for the first time as part of the MRROS. This will be a studio not to miss! And it’s a real privilege to be able to see inside one of Australia’s best landscape painter’s studio. Douglas’s studio is literally just around the corner from our property Karinya Homestead you could walk or drive 3 mins!

How to make the most of this amazing opportunity?
Firstly pick up your FREE GUIDE from any of the local visitor centres or Jackson Art Supply stores > here's a link < to the MRROS website for where to get your guide. Get yourself a cuppa a thumb through the guide noting all the artists you would like to see and put them in 3 locations, Busselton, Dunsborough & Surrounds & Margaret River & Surrounds. We always rank the studios just in case we are running out of time that way we know the ones we really wanted to see.
Our other suggestion is to grab a group of friends and come down south for an incredible week or weekend! these studio will start many conversations and spark creative thought or process in many visitors. Bring your journal & sketch pad and record your inspirations. You can come stay with us in our centrally located Yallingup properties, such as Woodstone cottages where you can stay in the bush and where you would have over 10 artists only minutes drive or a leisurely bike ride away! Click Here to see some of our neighbouring artists.
We are offering 10% off for any midweek bookings (made directly through our website) for this event!
Please get in touch soon if you would like to inquire about bringing a group down for this event we have had several calls already!
